Most hotel operations revolve around a reservation schedule, often a diary or calendar of some sort. PROTEL is exactly the same but, unlike a book, it is possible to have a full 365 days constantly available on computer screen.
For ease of reading, only a part is on view at any one time but, by utilising the scrolling techniques of Windows, it is possible to quickly move the "window" to show whatever section is desired.
And again, quite unlike any reservation book, it is possible to add extras to a guest's account at any time by simply pointing at him or her on screen using the mouse and then selecting the appropriate extra category. All extras, or deposits, are recorded immediately, accurately memorised, and are used to produce the final bill which is, of course, automatically totalled.
After printing the bill, and being satisfied that a good copy has been obtained, the accurate figures by individual category are automatically added to the sales report for the current period. VAT is automatically calculated & recorded. The account is cleared.
A full screen HELP FILE is obtainable at any time whilst running PROTEL, without need to leave the program, by clicking on HELP in the menu bars or pressing the F1 key.
